About the Project

 American War by Omar El Akkad is set in the near future when a second civil war occurs due to the conflict of climate change, disease, and the prohibition of oil. The graphic props designed are derived from the main character, Benjamin Chestnut. In American War, readers follow the Chestnut family throughout the years of the war, many of which are spent at a refugee camp called “Camp Patience.”
